General Anesthesia (Sleep Dentistry)
General anesthesia, sometimes referred to as “sleep dentistry,” involves administering medication to your child that renders them completely unconscious. This is especially helpful for kids that require more extensive or invasive procedures, as it won’t allow them to remember any sensations during their treatment. It’s an excellent way to minimize any negative thoughts or feelings associated with the dentist in the future, as they’ll remain completely comfortable throughout, not feeling any pain or discomfort. For this service, Dr. Joe partners with local hospitals and anesthesiologists.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is a much less invasive method of sedation, as it’s administered in-office, once your child gets comfortable in the treatment chair. Our team will place a small mask over their nose that will allow them to breathe in the nitrous oxide, a colorless, odorless gas. Within moments, they’ll feel relaxed and at-ease, allowing Dr. Joe and our team to work quickly and effectively to administer treatments like tooth-colored fillings, or cleanings if your child has a fear of the dentist.
